Patrick Henry Train Cars
On April 23, 2015 I read an article in the San Antonio Express News about the arrival of a ten-car private train in San Antonio. The article informed the reader that the cars were not open to public and I went to the station to merely photograph the cars. At one time I worked for the Penn Central Railroad but quit after I learned about "snow duty," but have retained an interest in trains.
As I was wandering around the station I bumped into Morris Gould who was traveling with one of the car's owners. After a brief conversation with him he introduced me to the owner, Patrick Henry, of two of the cars, a dome observation car and a sleeper. Without asking or prompting the owner told Mr. Gould to give me a tour. I was flabbergasted. Gould as I later learned is the Executive Director of the Galveston Railroad Museum.
It was a surprise morning out, which I refer to as "Bonus Time." A time when something wonderful happens, unplanned. Thanks to Morris Gould for the tour and to Mr. Patrick Henry for allowing me to photograph the beautifully restored (and beyond) train cars.
